New employee onboarding pilot
We introduced a five-day onboarding program aimed at connecting our new employees to our business and culture
The onboarding was offered to 24 new employees in person and online between September and December 2019.
The pilot delivered outstanding results with a 100% retention of employees, compared with 74.5% in the same period for the prior year.
Those who took part also rated their confidence in starting work at 8.1 out of 10, where 10 was extremely confident.
Stepping Into is a program that assists university students with disability into a four-week paid internship.
We participated again in 2019 by hiring an intern, who is a current student at Queensland University of Technology.
She became a part-time casual HR Assistant after successful completion of the internship and has since been appointed in a permanent part-time position as our Return to Work and Safety Coordinator.
Disability confident recruiter
We are 1 of 13 Australian organisations that have achieved Disability confident recruiter (DCR) status.
We achieved this in March 2018 and were successful in renewing it in March 2019.This involved:
- Training our recruitment team about accounting for gaps in employment history for candidates with disability
- New hiring managers have undergone DCR training
- Workplace adjustments to employees with disability
